The patio seating is nice
I like the Kudu. It’s close to my apartment, the patio seating is nice and quiet and you’re generally able to find a seat quickly and easily. The servers bring drinks in a timely fashion and aren’t surly (are you listening J Clyde and Blue Monkey? This is much better than your system.)

Barking Kudu is a great alternative to Dave’s if I’m already made it home and/or I don’t want to fight old dudes for outdoor seating during the summer. And being able to get a big group of friends around an outdoor table is worth 4 stars all on its own. Just make sure you get in before they start charging a cover, and if you’re going out but plan to come back, they’ll give you a stamp to re-enter.

On the patio and enjoying a cigar
This bar seems to have taken the place of the Sidewalk Cafe. It has a large covered patio that allows you to enjoy the wonderful weather in Birmingham. An above average cigar menu, and a large selection of beers. Drinks are not too pricey and live music is located in the back, so it doesn’t overwhelm the whole place. The service is excellent, I never find myself waiting too long for a drink.

I recommend coming around 7ish, grabbing a table on the patio and enjoying a cigar.

I’d definitely go again
This bar has a chill atmosphere, which I enjoyed. Lots of places to sit, though it got pretty busy because we went on a Friday night. Not a huge fan of the cover charge, but there was live music in the back, so all was forgiven. Actually, we happened to wander in on the same night that Tommy Tutone was in town (singer of “8675309″), and his performance with the local band pretty much made my night. I heard he also made an appearance at the Rare Martini — quite a night for Tommy! All in all, though, I liked hanging out at the Kudu, and the prices were average for any of the bars in that area. I’d definitely go again sometime in the future…

Very cool
The atmosphere and lighting in the Barking Kudu was sexy and somewhat intimate, but with a nightclub feel. The crowd was pretty eclectic.

Nice Location in the Heart of Lakeview
The Barking Kudu offers a great atmosphere, quality drinks, and live entertainment. The bar offers an aire of exclusivity, which can be take-it-or-leave-it for some. Make sure to get there early for parking and before it fills up too much. Otherwise…bottom’s up!

The Bite is better than the Bark
The Barking Kudu has for some time been a preferred place to stop for a drink during happy hour after work. With the addition of a fun and tasty menu, they have become a fast and convenient place to get a wonderful lunch. My favorite sandwich is the Kariba Kudu, which is loaded with meats and veggies. It is a lot of food, and a very interesting and satisfying combination of flavors and textures.

Great food at a familiar bar
Just had lunch at the Barking Kudu, and the food was GREAT. I had heard the Kudu was starting lunch and dinner service, and to be honest, I didn’t expect it to be nearly as tasty as it is, or have the menu offerings that they have! This is one of my favorite bars in town, and I’m so glad they have expanded into a full service restaurant. I had the Kariba Kudu panini style sandwich (awesome!) with a side of their pasta salad (also awesome!), and my girlfriend had their toasted chicken salad sandwich and loved it. She also had a caesar salad to go with it. Can’t wait to bring some more folks in with me. Seriously folks, the menu is perfect for lunch and the patio is great! Check out the Kudu for lunch!

Birmingham’s Best Bar Now Boasts The Best BLT And Burrito!
The Barking Kudu, which is a venue traditionally known for its music and spectacular bar has know added a great new restaurant to its lineup. Now open at 11:00 am, it is featuring a wide variety of specialty soups, signature panini and toasted sandwiches, as well as salads during lunch. Starting at happy hour (4:00 pm till 8:00 pm) come in and try some of the unique african style appitizers. Or if a walk on the wild side is not for you just grab yourself some hand stacked nachos. Each and every chip is covered with cheezy goodness and then sprinkled with various toppings so there’s no fighting over the best one’s if your sharing! Moving into latenight-yes, there is food here until 2:00 am-you can enjoy a wide variety of Tex-Mex ranging from taco’s and burrito’s to quesadilla’s. To say the least, this is truly inspired american cuisine with an african flare. The Barking Kudu’s newest addition is a must to try. And while you’re at it don’t forget to enjoy an ice cold beer on the patio. This venue is the perfect place to enjoy the upcoming summer. See you there!
